Luck Dragons are a Bunch of Jerkfaces

The Solid Gold Hits Softball Club is good at a lot of things. Unfortunately, playing softball is not one of them...at least it wasn't on Tuesday night.

Our rivals, the Luck Dragons, stuck it to us pretty hard. It was hardly even fair. They have like all these left handed people that hit the ball to an area of the park known as "right field." This makes things a lot harder than it should be...especially when the righties are hitting to the equally mysterious "left field." And the real kicker is that they hit it hard and at places where we aren't standing. Our Achilles heel is our good sportsmanship which compels us to hit the ball softly right at their defense...if we hit it at all.

The final score was one to something greater than one...much greater. I'm fairly confident about our one run, but I lost track of the Luck Dragons score pretty early on in the rout. Let's say the final score was one to greater than one but less than or equal to a dozen. It definitely couldn't have been more than a dozen. I think it was only ten. Doesn't really matter.

To add insult to injury, I'm pretty sure the Luck Dragons were wasted. Perhaps this was their secret to victory. They were playing loose and free, unencumbered by sobriety, while we were muddling through crippling sobriety. Sometimes, we can learn from our enemies.

Highlights included:

* One solid defensive inning where Matt pitched his way to getting 3 out of 4 batters out.

* Sonya, fielding a crucial grounder cleanly and completely flubbing the ensuing throw. I think it actually went backwards.

* Game ball winner Linda making solid contact at each at bat. If she could just aim it a little better, she'd be a superstar. Also, including herself, she brought 2 players, 2 fans and a little doggie mascot. Solid work, Linda.

* As a pop fly was hit to the outfield, Julie V. - instead of positioning herself to make the play - simply began yelling "Terry!" over and over again until Terry made the trek from center to dive in front of her and make the catch. Nice teamwork, guys!

* Amber fielding a couple hot grounders at first and snagging a couple pop ups. Also, she helped Coach Nick pull the bloody sock of his leg and didn't even laugh at him as he whined like a sissy girl. No offense to sissy girls.

* Becca, superfan and maker of signs, created one of her more esoteric efforts for this game. The sign read "Luck Dragons = Foul Corps." For those who don't know, Falkor was the luck dragon from the Neverending Story. Suitably, we played a neverending first inning.

So, it wasn't our best performance, but at least we put that one glorious run on the board. Suck on that, Luck Dragons!

Don't feel too bad. Tough early schedule and you play Suckrilicious and West Coast next. You'll be above .500 in no time!

Anyone want to create a Thursday night team for the sole purpose of destroying Majority Rules?
